How Well Did We Do?

After loads of tests, we finally pegged the maximum stable clock speeds of our GeForce 8800 GT at 705 MHz core and 951 MHz RAM. This means we managed to overclock the GPU by 105 MHz (17.5%). For those who are interested, overclocking the core to 705 MHz also overclocked the shader processors to 1763 MHz. Unfortunately, we only managed to overclock the memory bus by only 51 MHz (5.7%).

Now, let's take a look at how the overclocked GeForce 8800 GT compares to the stock GeForce 8800 GT and a selection of other cards.

Even with the higher core and memory speeds, the overclocked GeForce 8800 GT still cannot match the fillrate and memory bandwidth of the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB. From specifications alone, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB has a 5.4% and a 2.1% advantage in fillrate and memory bandwidth respectively.

On the other hand, overclocking the GeForce 8800 GT allowed it to deliver a fillrate 7.3% higher than that of the GeForce 8800 GTX. Before overclocking, its fillrate was 8.7% lower than the GeForce 8800 GTX. However, the GeForce 8800 GTX still has a tremendous advantage in memory bandwidth.

Now, let's find out just how much faster the overclock GeForce 8800 GT is!
