Cooperation, Teamwork & Achievements

Cooperation is really important in this game and you should pay a lot of emphasis on this when you play this game. Even the game title said so! Every different class in a team has specific strengths and weaknesses. No one class can best them all. So, players should rely on each other to achieve their objective.

Best of all, if your teammates and you get rid of a member of the opposing force (or its sentry guns), all of you take the credit. Similarly, if your teammates and you captured a control point, you will be awarded with a point along with the other guys as well. Surprisingly, the scoreboard has changed too. Instead of listing the number of kills, it is been replaced by scores. The number of kills and deaths are located below the scoreboard and below your nick.

MVP

Well, the number of kills isn't going to be that important here. It's how much you have contributed to the team. If your team wins a round, and if you have contributed a lot (like taking over some control points or removing a lot of enemies) for the team, your name will be listed in the MVP (Most Valuable Players) list and you will be awarded with points too. In the meantime, you can see how much you did do in your past game in the loading screen (You are on your way to...), like enemy’s killed, total points, etc. And finally, a stalemate means both teams lose.

General Tips

First and foremost, when the game is loading and in the process of entering a map, go and read the tips. If you have just started to play TF2 and do not have any prior experience, try be a Medic. Stick near to your teammates and heal them whenever necessary and avoid too much crossfire. Don't worry if you don't get kills at first. You are actually helping your friends fight off opponents. At the same time, you can observe how the other, more experienced players fight.

If you are walking and suddenly you feel like you have bumped something, be careful. It's the spy in his 'cloaked' mode. Keep peppering bullets and move around to discourage the spy from backstabbing you. On top of that, you should yell for help or "Cloaked Spy". Pyro's flames are short-range, but his jet of flames are very lethal in packed corridors and narrow areas. Use the flamethrower to weed out invisible spies too, especially when you see someone suspicious touching your teammates' sentries/dispensers with his sappers.

You should know your role and class limitations! For example, a Scout is designed to run around quickly and steal your opponent's Flag (CTF maps only) or the Capture Point (CP) easily and his scattergun works well in close quarters. Getting him trapped in a heavy crossfire will instantly kill him. Similarly, an Engineer should provide basic defense by building sentries and dispensers, not go around whacking enemies in a gung-ho manner. Also, you should not expect a HW Guy to run like an athlete. He is big and heavy, and loaded with his minigun as well. For veteran players of TFC, you might find 2Fort, Dustbowl and Well very familiar, and even a good déjà vu experience.

There are many tips too here. I can't just list them all down here. If you need any more tips, just look me up at the Tech ARP forums!
