ASUS P5NSLI nForce 570 SLI Motherboard Pictorial Review

ASUS P5NSLI nForce 570 SLI Motherboard

Based on the NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI chipset, the ASUS P5NSLI motherboard is officially targeted at the performance market. However, the relatively limited memory clock speed of 667MHz does seem to preclude that market. The nForce 570 SLI chipset is really designed to provide an affordable SLI solution for the Intel platform and that's what it does.

Of course, as a lower-end SLI chipset, it can only run the PCI Express x16 slots at only x8 speed in SLI mode. But thanks to the use of this chipset, the ASUS P5NSLI motherboard comes with a range of NVIDIA value-added features, like the MediaShield Storage Technology, the nTune utility, and built-in support for RAID.

In typical ASUS fashion, the motherboard comes with a pretty good package. Other than the usual manual, CD and SLI bridge, the ASUS P5NSLI also comes with truly useful accessories like Q-Connectors, a USB bracket, and an almost complete set of cables.

The motherboard comes with a pretty useful number of expansion slots, and plenty of SATA and PATA ports. This is great for those transitioning from a previous generation of hardware. You can reuse much of your hardware with this motherboard.

Although the motherboard components are generally well laid out, a few components seem out of place. We feel the ATX power connector and the floppy drive connector were inappropriately placed, and will force you to run cables over critical areas, and reducing airflow to those areas.

We also think that ASUS' use of the garish pink heatsink for the north bridge chip is rather inappropriate. But we could be biased. Our female reviewer seems to fancy it!

If you are thinking of buying this motherboard, you should remember that it is meant to provide an affordable SLI solution. It's not meant to be a board for overclockers to play with. That's not what it is.

* Our New Review System

ARP is committed to developing new ways to improve your experience with us. As part of our continuous efforts to improve the value of our reviews to you, we are implementing a new review system.

This new review system is designed to allow you to quickly receive information on the latest hardware. This new system also allows you to quickly get the gist of the review without reading through it. This can be very useful, especially in situations where you need to make a quick purchase decision.

In this new system, we start with a Product Overview whenever a company sends us a press release about their latest product. We shift through extraneous PR-talk to create a straightforward summary of the product's features as well as specifications. This allows you to quickly find out all the pertinent details about the product, without reading through official press releases.

When we receive the product for review, we will quickly take photos of it and create a Pictorial Review. The purpose of a pictorial review is to allow you, the reader, to quickly examine the product visually. It may help you make better purchase decisions, especially if you cannot wait for the full review.

After thorough testing, we will post a Comprehensive Review of the product. This adds on to the pictorial review with comprehensive test results and our final conclusion on the product.

But no matter whether you are reading a Pictorial Review or a Comprehensive Review, you can always read the summary of the review as well as examine the product's specifications right on the first page. In all our new reviews, we will maintain the first page as a Product Overview page. If the product is listed in PriceGrabber, you can also check out the lowest price online.

We hope this new review system will make your experience a lot more enjoyable and informative!
