This test shows you why USB drives are designed to copy and store files, and are not suitable to run an operating system (even though this is certainly possible). While the Kingston DataTraveler Elite 3.0 was really fast at small random reads - it was faster than even the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Gen. 2, it was excruciatingly slow at small random writes.

When it came to large 512 KB random reads and writes, the Kingston DataTraveler Elite 3.0 exhibited the same characteristics. It was very fast at random reads but much slower at random writes.
