Intel Unwired @ Mamak Stalls
Intel's stepping off the beaten path a little in their mamak stall programme with their street art. Check it out!
I'm no art connoisseur but that's an interesting concept. The cables wound around the chairs certainly feel constrictive. I can attest to that. I personally hate cables - the less I have to deal with, the better.
But I think wireless connectivity is just one aspect of getting wireless. The biggest wire mobile users are still afflicted with is the power cable. If we want to be truly "unwired" or wireless, we need to have a long-lasting power solution for notebooks.
Coming back to topic, if you are interested in checking them out, you can do so from 22nd August until 19th September at the following locations :
- Hartamas Square, Desa Sri Hartamas
- Safiz, Desa Sri Hartamas
- Asia Cafe, SS15, Subang
- Pelita, Bangsar
- Pelita, SS2
- Pelita, Jalan Ampang
BTW, I'm not sure if street art is the only aspect of this campaign, or if these mamak stalls will also feature wireless connectivity. But I hope they do!
Intel Notebook Bag Design Competition
Intel is currently working with budding talents in the Malaysian Institute of Art to create a more fashionable notebook bag. So, no, this is not an open competition.
But we will all benefit from better-looking notebook bags, won't we? I just hope Intel will be able to provide ARP with these new bags for our giveaway contests when they are available!
Channel V Contests
Across the month of September, viewers of Channel V will have a chance to win high-end mobile phones just by answering a simple quiz at the end of the Remote Control program.
In the final episode, the winner will have a chance to win a sleek Centrino-based notebook... and this will probably be the real clincher for some of us - a chance to be on TV with Paula Malai Ali!!! W00T!!
Okay, I just want to be with her... off TV.
BeFree.com.my Contests
Intel is sponsoring two contests at BeFree.com.my. These contests will run from 22nd August until 2nd October.
The first contest is a Speed contest. In this contest, you just need to answer questions related to Intel like Centrino Mobile Technology, Moore's Law, etc. But you have to do answer as many correctly as you can within 28 seconds. Every right answer will give you 100 points, every wrong answer will be penalized by 50 points. You can also skip the question with no penalty.
The Speed contest also features a time bonus. The faster you answer the questions, the higher the bonus. Scores from each of the 6 contest weeks will be accumulated and the highest scorer will walk off with a new Intel Centrino-based notebook!
The second contest is based on Agility. It's a flash-based game that allows you to manipulate a puppet to create a pose with a stationary notebook. You can resize the puppet's limbs and body as well as add up to 3 objects (i.e. toilet bowl, door, umbrella, etc.) into the picture. Once you are satisfied with the picture, just submit the entry!
All entries will be evaluated by the public, who will vote for the best pose. And at the end of every week, the top 10 participants will receive four tickets to the "Be Free" party at Zouk on 30th September!
One thing that we don't quite get about this contest. The Agility or puppet-posing contest ends on the October 2nd, but the winners are supposed to be partying at Zouk on September 30th. So, either the final winner will be partying alone, or there's a mix-up in the dates.
