Drive Label

The drive label was placed on the underside of the Pocket Hard Drive. It lists the drive capacity as well as the model number.

You can also check out the drive's serial number and part number. They will be useful if you ever need to RMA the drive.

Rubber Feet

The Pocket Hard Drive's underside also sports two semi-circular rubber feet. They ensure that the Pocket Hard Drive is not easily shifted when it's placed on a table.

This is a small but important feature. As this is a real hard drive, moving or knocking it about while it's running is HIGHLY contraindicated. Such rubber feet will be a real help in ensuring that the Pocket Hard Drive stays still during operation.

Integrated USB Cable System

A unique feature of the Seagate Pocket Hard Drive is the integrated USB cable system. It's truly an ingenious system.

When you first examine the Pocket Hard Drive, you may be wondering about the USB cable or connector. There doesn't seem to be one in the package!

But grasp the Pocket Hard Drive and twist the cover, and it slides to reveal the USB connector!

The USB connector is actually nestled within the case. Seagate even created a mini-socket that holds it in place. Very nice touch! If you twist the cover further, it extends the USB cable!

Twist the cover back and the cable automatically gets stowed in a groove at the edge of the black shell. Now, isn't that something?

The cable is short but it should be long enough for most users. We would prefer something a little longer but then again, it would be pretty hard to squeeze a longer cable into such a compact case. In any case, you can always buy a USB cable extender should you need the extra reach.
