DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR nForce 4 SLI Motherboard Review

The DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Motherboard

This is one awesome-looking motherboard. I love the UV slots that is located all over the motherboard. The overall layout of the motherboard is excellent. The power connectors are all grouped at the top right corner of the motherboard (lower right in the picture). As such, you won't have the big ugly ATX power cables stretching across your motherboard.

The IDE and floppy connectors are also grouped towards the right side of the motherboard (next to the ATX power connectors) and that allows you to arrange the cables neatly.

DFI used an active cooler for the NVIDIA nForce 4 chip. They also attached heatsinks onto the power MOSFETs situated next to the ATX power connectors.

Speaking about the power connectors, you will be surprised to find out that there are four power connectors on the LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR. Yes, there're FOUR of them.

There is your usual 24-pin and 4-pin ATX power connectors, but there is also a 4-pin Molex connector, and a floppy power connector. DFI recommends that ALL FOUR of these power connectors be connected for maximum stability and performance. That itself says a lot about the potential of this motherboard.

In case if you guys didn't know... this motherboard is for Socket 939 processors only.

Incidentally, the layout of the three DFI nForce 4-based motherboards (NF4, NF4 SLI-D and LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR) generally look the same. Therefore, the easiest way to distinquish these motherboards is by the SLI sticker.

The underside of the LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR is unremarkable. The only feature of any interest is the plastic backplate.
