Far Cry

In Far Cry, the new GeForce 7900 GTX is the undisputed performance king. While it appears to offer a very small increase in performance of 6.8% over the GeForce 7800 GTX, the gap widens significantly when anti-aliasing comes into play. Even using just 4xAA, the new GeForce 7900 GTX is over 35% faster than its predecessor.

Even the new GeForce 7900 GT was faster than the previous king of the hill. Although it is only 2-4% faster than the GeForce 7800 GTX, the fact remains that it is faster than the GeForce 7800 GTX.

F.E.A.R.

In F.E.A.R., the new GeForce 7900 GTX is much faster than the GeForce 7800 GTX even with anti-aliasing disabled. It was actually 20 fps faster in our tests, which is an improvement of over 40%. When 4xAA was enabled, it maintained a healthy lead of 36.7% over the GeForce 7800 GTX.

This time, the new GeForce 7900 GT actually matched the GeForce 7800 GTX's performance! One wonders if NVIDIA will phase the GeForce 7800 GTX out and replace it with the GeForce 7900 GT...

Half Life 2

In Half Life 2, the GeForce 7900 GTX has a very healthy performance lead over its predecessor. It's about 16% faster than the GeForce 7800 GTX without anti-aliasing and 48% faster when 4x anti-aliasing is enabled.

The GeForce 7900 GT maintains its small lead over the GeForce 7800 GTX! It's a virtual replacement for what was previously NVIDIA's top dog.

Doom 3

The GeForce 7900 GTX apparently hit the fillrate limit with the SLI showing no improvement over just the single card. Still, it maintained a large performance advantage over the old GeForce 7800 GTX. It is about 17% faster without anti-aliasing and about 39% faster when 4xAA is turned on.

The GeForce 7900 GT continues to maintain a small lead over the GeForce 7800 GTX. These two cards are essentially identical, as far as performance is concerned.
