The Module
Let's take a closer look at the memory module, shall we? This is a side shot of the module.
Note the sticker showing the specifications for this module. As you can see, it is a 512MB module rated for 400MHz DDR operation at the very tight timings of 2-2-2-5.
And here is a picture of the reverse side.
The heatspreader is made of aluminum and almost completely encloses the module, for a larger surface area - 95% more than regular heatspreaders according to Corsair.
Although the effect of any heatspreader on the memory module's performance is questionable, the customized heatspreader used in this module is a nice touch. Modders will certainly appreciate the aesthetic value of such heatspreaders.
Here is the "upskirt" shot of the module.
From what I can see, the memory chips are all in good contact with the heatspreader. Here is a closer look :-
If you look closely, you can see that the memory chips are bonded to the heatspreader using what looks like white hard glue. You can also see that the heatspreader covers part of the module's side.
