Those who are used to normal RTS (Real Time Strategy) games will realize that Warcraft III isn't your traditional RTS game. Most RTS games merely concentrate on aspects like development of various structures, resource management and of course, combat.
But Frozen Throne is different. Blizzard actually brings this game into a whole new dimension of RTS gaming! Some of the missions are Diablo-like in style, where you are given control of only a few units and you will need to fight your way out of a dungeon or hidden underground passages. I used to hate it when they tried it in the Command & Conquer series. However, Blizzard seems to have done it a little better in Frozen Throne. I actually enjoyed playing such missions due to the numerous strategies and meticulous planning required!
For multi-player gaming, some of the old maps from the Reign of Chaos were improved to make them more fun and challenging! Some of the new maps like Turtle Rock were beautifully crafted for hardcore LAN and Battle.net gamers. In addition, there are three new world environments that look a lot better than the original Reign of Chaos maps. So far, I have only uncovered the Sunken Colony and the Frozen World.
Music & Sound Effects
Frozen Throne's musical score really impressed me, especially the music used in the Human campaign. Most people overlook the value of good music in a game. The great music in Frozen Throne really adds a lot to experience.
Blizzard also did well in reproducing the sound effects of each unit. They really made sure the sound bites were clear and sounded realistic. The speeches of each unit also fitted perfectly with their characteristics. As usual, the units will have something funny to say after you click them repeatedly. Try and see! :D
