The Mini-Kart Flash Drive
Even with a capacity of 1GB, the Mini-Kart is remarkably small and super-thin at just 2.8 mm. To achieve that kind of slimness, it doesn't even come with the standard USB connector.
The card is encased in black plastic. The name OCZ Mini-Kart and its capacity is printed on the front although the back is virtually blank of any markings.
The Mini-Kart comes with a keyring at the end of a thin black string. You can attach a key or two to it, but you will probably want to add a larger keyring.
There's also a very small activity LED at the end of the card. It lights up with a blue light when it's active and blinks whenever there's read or write activity. It's a useful feature because it warns you against removing the Mini-Kart when there is still read or write activity.
USB Connector
Here's a closer look at the unique USB connector. If you compare it with the standard USB connector, it looks like they merely removed the steel cover around the connector, thereby allowing it to achieve the much slimmer profile.
The steel cover not only protects the connector but also prevents you from inserting the drive the wrong way. Therefore, it is possible to insert the Mini-Kart drive the wrong way.
Plastic Case
To protect the Mini-Kart against physical damage, OCZ provides a standard CompactFlash case with an SD card frame inside. The SD card frame has two cut-outs which allow you to nicely slot the Mini-Kart in place.
Such plastic cases have proven to be very robust. If you store the Mini-Kart inside the case, you can be rest assured it's well protected against physical damage.
