Barracuda ES

The Seagate Barracuda ES is Seagate's answer to anyone's insatiable need for capacity in an enterprise environment. It is essentially the highest-capacity enterprise drive in Seagate's arsenal.

Naturally, it's targeted at applications like Network Attached Storage (NAS), enterprise backup and restore and other storage-hungry applications.

The Barracuda ES makes use of Perpendicular Recording technology in the SATA version to achieve its amazing capacity, while integrating enterprise multi-drive firmware features and best-in-class rotational vibration tolerance to offer the highest reliability 7200 RPM drive for enterprise applications.

The new Barracuda ES drives is now available with capacities ranging from 250GB to 750GB. While SATA 3Gb/s is available for all capacities, 2Gb/s Fibre Channel is also available, albeit for only the 400GB and 500GB capacities.

Here is a list of its key features :

  • Highest-capacity drives in the market
  • Highest-reliability 7200 RPM drive, designed for 24x7 operations
  • Serial ATA interface available for all capacities
  • Fibre Channel interface available for 400GB and 500GB capacities
  • Best-in-class rotational vibration tolerance, which allows deployment in high-density, closely-packed system designs
