The 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex was very fast when paired with the USB 3.0 adaptor. It was faster than all the other USB 3.0 external drives with the singular exception of the 64 GB OCZ Enyo. Even when used with the standard USB 2.0 adaptor, it was faster than the other HDD-based external drives as well as the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 USB flash drive running in USB 2.0 mode.

When it came to writes though, the 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex could not keep up with the flash-based Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 and OCZ Enyo drives. However, it was still the fastest HDD-based external drive in this comparison.
However, when we retested it using the standard USB 2.0 adaptor, it proved to be slightly slower than the 500 GB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex - its little brother.
