The Package
The Steel Sound 5H-USB comes in a see-through plastic package designed for retail display. You can visually inspect the headset before buying it.
Incidentally, a quick way to determine if the package you are holding contains the USB sound card is to check the front of the box. The 5H-USB box will have a blue stripe and the words USB version printed next to it. The standard 5H headset will have a red stripe and you won't find the words USB version printed in the front.
At the back, the cardboard insert shows the key features as well as specifications of Steel Sound 5H-USB. You can also see that while this headset was designed in Denmark, it was actually manufactured in China.
The small cardboard section on the left side of the box indicates that the pull-out microphone is located on the left ear cup.
Meanwhile, you can further confirm that this box contains the USB sound card by checking the cardboard section on the right side.
The box opens from the top. But even the top has a cardboard section touting the headset's key features.
As you can see, the box arrived badly battered. We wish Soft Trading would ship their headsets in a real box, instead of just wrapped in paper.
Hopefully, the headset and USB sound card were not damaged during delivery...
