Seagate 750GB Pushbutton Backup Review

The Stand

The stand that came with the 750GB Pushbutton Backup is also made from plastic. There are four hooks at the top which fit into the four slits on the underside of the drive. After sliding it into place, you just need to lock it into place and the stand becomes a solid part of the drive.

Underside of the stand

The underside of the stand has four small rubber feet, designed to keep the drive in place. At least there were supposed to be four of them. In our unit, we noted a missing rubber foot. We checked the box but could not find it.

In any case, the small rubber feet were too small to make more than a token resistance to any movement of the drive. The weight, if anything, kept the drive in place far more than the rubber feet. So, the loss of a single rubber foot did not make a perceptible difference in the stability of the drive, which is a good thing.

Accessories

The Seagate 750GB Pushbutton Backup came with a complete set of accessories. As the drive supports both USB and Firewire connectivity, both cables are part of the package.

USB cable
Firewire cable

Also included is an AC/DC power adaptor made by I.T.E. Power Supply. It draws 1.2A of AC power to deliver 3A of 12V power to the unit. Although our unit was provided by Seagate Malaysia, it came with the US Type B cable. Fortunately, this AC/DC adaptor is a two-piece design. So, we could easily swap the cable for a British Type G cable.

Also part of the package is a Quick Start Guide, which allows you to well, quickly set up the drive and start using it. There is also a small booklet with information on the drive's warranty and technical support.

Documentation
Utility CD

The included CD contains USB drivers for older versions of Windows as well as the BounceBack Express software. This software allows you to create preset backups that can be repeated just by pressing the power button at the front of the drive. This is the basis of the drive's name - Pushbutton Backup.
