OCZ Enyo 64 GB Portable USB 3.0 Solid State Drive Review

The 64 GB OCZ Enyo

The 64 GB OCZ Enyo portable solid state drive has a very nice anodized aluminium housing, which feels great in the hand. The minimalistic design features an Enyo logo and two blue LED activity lights on the top plate and a small label with an OCZ logo on the underside. Very nice.

As this solid state drive has a USB 3.0 interface, it is no longer confined by the 2.5" form factor. Hence, OCZ was free to make the Enyo 33% thinner and slimmer, and 10% longer than the typical portable 2.5" hard disk drive. Overall, the Enyo is about half the size and weight of a 2.5" portable hard disk drive. This makes it a great portable drive for notebook users, especially since its solid state nature makes it completely impervious to shock.

Usable Capacity

This OCZ Enyo drive officially has a formatted capacity of 64 GB. We checked that out by formatting both in NTFS using Windows Vista.

The actual formatted capacity was 64,020,803,584 bytes. This is slightly (~20.8 MB) above than the official storage capacity. With about 96 MB allocated to the NTFS file system, the actual usable capacity was about 75 MB below 64 GB.
