Using The Pocket DJ (Continued)
On to the settings and information screen.
Settings and Information Submenus
From here you can choose two things. One is the Settings options that takes you to the Settings page. The other one is Information. This will show you information about the Dell Pocket DJ.
Settings
Let's have a look at the Settings page first.
From here you can customize the Pocket DJ to suit your needs even more! The very first option is the one that says "Owner". This field can be used to for your name. Below it are the Equalizer settings.
The Equalizer has eight presets, with the option to turn it off, and the ability to have custom equalizer settings. This brings me to another gripe I have about the Pocket DJP: the custom equalizer setting only allows 4 bars to be manipulated. This impairs the ability for the user to fully adjust the equalizer to suit his/her taste. On the flipside, the preset settings are pretty good so you probably wouldn't need to create your own settings. Regardless, it would still be a nice thing to have.
Information
Now, let's look at the information page.
This screen basically displays most of the info that you would need to know about the your Pocket DJ. It has the version number, total space, total free space, and others. Handy when you need to check on how much free space you have left.
Play
Next, let's look at the Play screen.
The Dell Pocket DJ shows the name of the song being played, the album, and the artist. It also shows the track number of the song on your playlist. At the bottom right and left corners, it shows the time left and playtime respectively. There is also an "EQ" icon that shows that the equalizer is being used.
A concern for some people is the player's ability to display characters of other languages. So I decided to throw in a Japanese track. I didn't test any other language, so I don't know the full list of characters that the Pocket DJ supports.
Japanese Characters on Display
Now this is something that even I didn't know. The Pocket DJ has the ability to display Japanese characters. Really cool!
Another useful feature is the Pocket DJ's ability to show you the full playlist that is currently selected. If you want to see the full playlist, just press the scroll wheel inwards and the playlist screen will pop up.
From here, you can scroll through your playlist easily. This is really handy if you want to skip to a song that you're really hooked on!
Battery Meter
The Dell Pocket DJ has a battery meter that is displayed at the top left of the screen.
This is a good for letting you know when your player needs more juice.
To turn the Pocket DJ off, simply press and hold down the Power button on the top, until a window pops up that says "Shutting down..."
Turning the player on will take it back to the last track it was playing before it was shut down. The Dell Pocket DJ will almost immediately start playing your tunes as soon as it turns on.
Connecting The Pocket DJ
Now, let's get connected!
To connect the Dell Pocket DJ to the computer, just insert the sync cable into a USB port of the computer, and plug in the other end into the player.
The Pocket DJ will power up when you connect it. To charge it, you have to turn it back off. So, no using the device while transferring and/or recharging. The picture above shows the screen of the Pocket DJ while it is docked. When there is a transfer happening, the two arrows will darken intermittently.
