How I Brought Back The Missing File Names

It's really pretty simple. First, open Windows Explorer and go one level above the folder that is exhibiting this problem. Look at the example below.

In this example, the Sample Pictures folder is the folder with the "missing file names" problem. To correct this problem, I first go one level above this folder, allowing Windows Explorer to show the folder in the main window.

Now, click the folder once to highlight it.

Then, while holding down the Shift key, double-click on the folder! This will immediately open up the folder. But with a difference!

Windows Explorer will now show the file names as well as the thumbnails!

Try repeating the steps above and you will get this instead.

No more file names again!

Therefore, this problem will only occur if you press the Shift key and double-click on a folder. If you don't do this, you will not encounter this problem. But now that you know the trick, you will know how to revert back should you encounter this curious problem.
