Installing The EX-33
Now, let's mount a brand spanking new Hitachi 500GB hard drive into her and find out how it's done.
Generally what you need to do is push the screw through the supplied vibration damping rollers, and screw it onto the drive. Once you have installed all four screws onto the drive, you just need to slide the drive into the Lian Li EX-33 drive cage.
Place the front rollers onto the side rails inside the drive cage and slide the drive in. The rollers will lock onto the rails, making it easy for you to slide the drive in securely. Once you slide the drive to the end, you just need to push the rear rollers downwards into the notches in the side rails. They will hold the drive securely in place.
Pretty innovative, isn't it? This design allows you to easily install and remove hard drives without the need to screw them to the drive cage. Although you do not need to screw it in, the drive is still well mounted. Of course, if you want to be totally secure, you can insert a screw through pre-cut holes in the rails to fully secure the hard drive to the drive cage.
Incidentally, you can see that there is quite a large space between each hard drive in the cage. It is certainly larger than the usual drive cage, and will help improve airflow throughout the drive cage.
Installing the whole drive cage into the case was just as easy. Just slide it into any 3 empty drive bays and put 3 screws in on each side and voilà! it's installed. All in all, the whole kit was extremely easy to install and use. As long as you know how to hold a screwdriver and turn it in the right direction, you're more than qualified to install this baby.
