Packaging

The Praetorian came in a large, colourful box which is a nice break from the usual dull brown or white box.

Praetorian Box

I rather like the box because it actually has a large print of the case on the front. The side of the box lists down a few features of the case.

Listed Features

Here's what it says about the Praetorian - "The ATC-201 is the milestone of aluminum enclosures, the elegant style establishes the ATC-201 as the ruling chassis of all times. Now we call it 'Praetorian.'" Cooler Master also listed down some of the case's features :-

  • Superior airflow performance for maximum cooling performance.
  • Drawer-style motherboard tray for easy installation and maintenance.
  • Tool-free assembly/disassembly for quick and convenient maintenance or upgrade.
  • Front mount USB, Firewire, and audio connection for easy access.
  • Clear anodized surface for long last finish.
  • Reinforced frame for maximum structure integrity. (thickness = 2mm)
  • Easy to clean metal screen filter for front air intake.

A thickness of 2 mm is very good news as such a case will be very sturdy. Aluminium cases that have a thickness of 1 mm will be quite flimsy because aluminium is softer than steel. But when it comes to steel, anything over 1 mm is overkill (not to mention back-breakingly heavy!).

Now, let's rip the box open!

Contents

When you open the box, this is what you will see.

Presto!

The case was well-protected by two big pieces of styrofoam at each end. The case was also covered with a plastic bag to protect it from being scratched during handling.

Lying on top of the case is a plastic bag containing the manual and the screws that came with the case. It was actually taped to the plastic bag covering the case. This is a better than having it slide everywhere inside the box! This shot shows you just how well the case was packaged.

Well protected

The case came with a manual (three pieces of folded paper), a bag of screws and a case badge.

Manual and Screws

The manual covered basic installation procedures of the case as well as its headers. Now, let's move on to the case itself.
