The Cooler
The cooler consists of a large aluminium heatsink with a copper insert, topped by a blower fan of unknown specifications and covered by a plastic shroud designed to direct the airflow through the entire length of the heatsink.
The bottom view affords you a nice view of the thermal tapes used. As you can see, the cooler was connected to all significant components on the card, like the memory chips, voltage regulators and the mysterious chip located near the bracket.
Do take note as well of the many vents in this heatsink. Directly under the fan are vent holes which are presumably meant to provide air flow for the adjacent memory chips and voltage regulators.
Right next to the copper base plate is another row of vents. There are also smaller vents along both sides of the heatsink. The tapered end of the heatsink has a large row of vents which are kind of replicated on the shroud on the other side. All in all, this is a pretty leaky heatsink design!
Although this is a predominantly cast aluminium heatsink, it comes with a copper base plate which allows for better heat transfer from GPU.
The Heatpipe
As we mentioned earlier, this cooler comes with a single heatpipe. Without this heatpipe, it would take a long time for the heat to radiate from the base to the entire length of the heatsink.
As you can see, the heatpipe starts directly under the copper base plate and channels the heat to the far end of the heatsink.
Fan
Unfortunately, the screws for this cooler was especially tight. No matter how hard we tried, we simply could not remove them. Therefore, we could not remove the shroud and examine the heatsink and fan in detail.
We will update this review with more details when we are able to remove the shroud.
