The Intel SSDSA2MH080G1C1
The Intel 80 GB X25-M SSD, also known by its official model number SSDSA2MH080G1C1, looks like a 2.5" notebook hard disk drive. It was certainly designed to fit the 2.5" form factor, allowing it to easily replace any 2.5" hard disk drive. But you know it isn't a hard disk drive the second you hold it in your hands - it feels as light as a feather!
As it only serves to protect the NAND chips, controller and circuit board inside from static damage, the case is flat on both sides. The top has a simple label that is reminiscent of the label on the box, while the underside is completely blank.
Usable Capacity
Intel listed the SSDSA2MH080G1C1's storage capacity as 156,301,488 sectors, which translates into 80,026,361,856 bytes. We checked out the actual usable capacity by formatting it in NTFS using Windows Vista.
The formatted capacity was 80,024,170,496 bytes. This is slightly (2.2 MB) lower than the official capacity but still above 80 GB. With about 92 MB allocated to the NTFS file system, the actual usable capacity was slightly below 80 GB.
Let's take a look at its specifications.
