This is the most important test for those who intend to use the My Passport as a portable boot drive. In this small random access test, the 2 TB My Passport did poorly compared to the flash-based Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2 and OCZ Enyo drives. That said, it was still the fastest HDD-based portable drive in this comparison, and by a significant amount too.

When it came to large 512 KB random accesses, the 2 TB My Passport was the fastest HDD-based portable drive in the comparison. Although it was much slower at random reads than flash drives like the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2, it was much faster at writes.
