Character Design
Unlike POP:TSOT, which featured a very limited variety of enemies, POP:WW is a huge leap in this department. There is a wide array of minions for you to slash like a monkey on ecstasy! Unfortunately, the designers did not bother to invent names for these poor creatures. They are not even listed in the manual.
But fret not. Name or no name, there’s plenty for you to fight. For instance, you will get to meet and trash the self-destructing dog-like creatures, shadowy life-forms that throw daggers at you, invisible ninja ladies and even a super-huge armored beast!
Aside from these smaller creatures, there will be boss-class creatures for you to contend with. These bosses actually make combat against the Vizier and the Sand King from POP:TSOT feel like child’s play.
Probably the most notable character of POP: WW is Shahdee, the Empress of Time’s right-hand lady. She is the first supporting cast member that will be introduced to you. With her starting appearance in a metal-thong during the opening scene, it will be a really memorable encounter.
I find it kind of odd that the designers actually zoomed in to highlight her thongs as she walked up the stairs. I mean, do we really need this in the game? I'll have to admit her curves and all look great, though.
Then we have Kaileena, the beautiful green-eyed lady in red with breasts that look like they were made entirely of silicone. She’s the mysterious lady who seems to elude you. Yet she helps you in your quest to stop the Sands of Time from being created.
And last but not least, the Dahaka - another well-designed creature who will give you an eerie feeling each time you see him. In fact, it’s both creepy as well as fun, when you are forced to outrun the Dahaka.
My personal favourite? The crow-guy. He gets my vote for the best-designed character in the game. His mysterious looks, orange eyes and flowing black garment makes him one-of-a-kind, reminiscent of Tolkien’s ring-wraiths.
