The Mouse Pad

The Func sUrface1030 Archetype is a large mouse pad with a width of 11.5" (29.2 cm) and a depth of 9.5" (24.1 cm), which gives it a surface area that's 20% larger than the original sUrface1030. It also features a slightly curved design that follows the movement of the wrist pivoting upon a fixed elbow.

The top of the mouse pad has a FUNC INDUSTRIES label...

... while the right side of the pad has an aluminium insert with the numbers 1030 engraved in it. A very nice touch.

Like the original sUrface1030, the Archetype is unique in that it is actually made up of two separate components - a reversible, double-sided mousing surface component and a plastic base. We will be taking a close look at both components in the coming pages.

But first, let's take a look at its specifications and see just how big this mouse pad is!

Size Comparison

Here's a size comparison of the Archetype with the large Icemat 2nd Edition in the back and the Everglide Attack Optical mouse pad in the front.

We estimated that the Archetype has a mousing surface area of approximately 640 cm2. While that's smaller than the 750 cm2 surface area of the Icemat 2nd Edition, it's still a very large area for your mouse to roam on!

Now, let's take a look at the two separate components of the Archetype mouse pad!
