ABIT NF7 Series VDD Mod Guide

Modding Methods

There are actually two methods of vdd modding an ABIT NF7-series motherboard. One of them uses a variable resistor (the resistor mod) while the other method uses a pencil (the pencil mod).

If you are not good at soldering but you want to do this mod, I suggest you use the pencil mod method. The downside of this mod is that it is less accurate and requires some guesswork to get the voltage you want.

If you have good soldering skills, then I think you should choose the resistor mod method. This method allows you to easily and more accurately adjust the voltage.

So, there you have it. A pencil mod that is less risky, but tricky when it comes to getting the desired voltage. And the resistor mod which is technically more challenging to do but allows easier and more precise voltage adjustment.

Requirements (Resistor Mod)

      • A soldering iron with a fine tip
      • Fine solder
      • A 10,000 Ohm variable resistor
      • Wires
      • A magnifying glass
      • A multimeter
      • Good soldering skills!

Soldering skill is the most crucial factor in this mod. If you are not good at soldering, I strongly encourage you NOT to attempt this mod. Try the "pencil mod" instead.

The components are very tiny and you may damage them if your soldering skills are not good enough. You should try practicing your soldering skill on damaged hardware components before doing this mod. Don't forget to use a soldering iron with a fine tip or the solder may spill over the other components.

Requirements (Pencil Mod)

  • A 2B pencil or any other pencil with soft graphite
  • A magnifying glass
  • A multimeter

As you can see, the "pencil mod" method is much simpler, compared to the "resistor mod" method.

Now, let's get down to the modding action!
