How Well Did We Do?

After loads of tests, we finally pegged the maximum stable clock speeds of our GeForce GT 240 at 645 MHz core, 1570 MHz shader and 1019 MHz (2038 MHz DDR) RAM. This means we managed to overclock its GPUs by 95 MHz (17%), the shaders by 230 MHz (17%) and the GDDR5 memory by 169 MHz (20%). Not bad at all!

Now, let's take a look at how the overclocked GeForce GT 240 compares to the stock GeForce GT 240 and a selection of other cards.

Thanks to the overclock, this GeForce GT 240 has a memory bandwidth of over 65 GB/s. This gives it 13% more memory bandwidth than the GeForce 9600 GT and 5% more memory bandwidth than the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB.

The texture fillrate of the overclocked GeForce GT 240 was almost as high as the GeForce 9600 GT but its pixel fillrate was slightly less than half of what the GeForce 9600 GT was capable of. However, as we have seen in the Galaxy GeForce GT 240 (DDR5), the specifications do not tell the whole story. The GeForce GT 240 (DDR5) was roughly equivalent to the GeForce 9600 GT in performance before we even overclocked it!

Alright, let's give the overclocked GeForce GT 240 a spin and see how well it does against the standard GeForce GT 240, two versions of the GeForce 9600 GT, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB, the ATI Radeon HD 4850 and the ATI Radeon HD 4870. We will also examine which is more important - the GPU overclock or the memory overclock.
