Conclusion
Okay, those are the few myths that have gotten on my nerves whenever I try to give sound advice to customers at the PC shop where I work. I try to educate buyers but when one’s mind is set (thanks to the very effective marketing strategies used by PC hardware companies), one can only watch and listen to their woes later.
Of course, I’m not saying that all or any one PC hardware company is lying to or cheating consumers. Every product in the market has its merits which deserve consideration. You just have to look beyond the marketing speak and make educated purchases based on their true merits. If you are interested in discussing more on the issues, feel free to post your queries in the forum.
Do note that even if your friendly neighbourhood tech guru can help educate you on the true merits of various hardware components, it doesn't pay to be spoonfed. There is always a high possibility that you may be misinformed or be fed with FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt).
You need to make that extra effort to do your own research - read up on reviews and search online for feedback and issues concerning the hardware component you are interested in. Ultimately, your research will pay off, allowing you to make informed purchasing decisions and satisfaction of ownership.
It’s 2008 already and it looks like it might be a loony year for all of us. But happy buying and may it be a joyful year for all us. Cheers!
