The Memory Chip
For these 550MHz DDR modules, Corsair used the Infineon Rev. C memory chips. These are UTT or untested memory chips, based on the Infineon HYB25D512800 memory chip.
Corsair buys these memory chips from Infineon at a discount because they are sold in bulk, totally untested. Corsair then tests and speed-grades them. The chips that make the grade are then used in these PC4400 modules.
We do not have the actual picture of the memory chip, but it should look just like any other 60-ball FCBGA memory chip.
The Infineon Rev. C memory chip is a 512Mbit DDR chip, designed to run at up to 400MHz DDR at CL3 or 333MHz DDR at CL2.5. However, Corsair uses specially-selected memory chips that can actually hit 550MHz DDR at CL3.
Let's have a look at the official specifications of the Infineon HYB25D512800 DDR memory chip.
