Icemat Siberia Multi Headset

The Icemat Siberia Multi Headset is quite a feast for the eyes. Its unique design and colour scheme will stand out amongst other headsets during any fragfest.

As far as DVD movies and games are concerned, the Siberia worked as advertised, providing crisp and accurate audio reproduction. Although designed for use with PCs, the Siberia also works great with AV systems. In fact, it comes with a gold-plated 6.3mm plug converter and 2.8m long cabling for this purpose.

Its audio recording performance is also pretty good. Even though it does not support noise cancelling, the noise level is very low. The pickup is a little poor when it's clipped onto the shirt, around the mid-chest level. So, you should consider boosting the microphone input or place it closer to you. Using the screen holder would also be a good idea.

The Siberia is also a comfortable headset to wear for long periods of time. Made primarily from plastic, it's light and well-padded. It also has vents in the ear cups that may help in aeration, although we did not discern any difference.

The downside of its open design is that external sources of noise will intrude into your listening experience. You will clearly hear everything that's going around you. That may be an advantage if you prefer to "keep an ear open" while watching movies or playing games.

Like all other headsets, no driver is required to use the Siberia. But setting it up is not particularly easy, due to the cumbersome cabling. The microphone and headset cables are actually separate. This makes it easy for the cables to get entangled, particularly since they are so long.

If you are looking for a gaming headset that has a very unique and attractive design, the Icemat Siberia may fit the bill. No one can doubt that its design and cool blend of white and black look superb. It will certainly make you the envy at any LAN party!

Its audio reproduction and recording performance is excellent as well. So, it's not all look and no substance. Its only downsides are the poor cabling system and probably the open type of design which results in poor passive noise reduction.

* Our New Review System

ARP is committed to developing new ways to improve your experience with us. As part of our continuous efforts to improve the value of our reviews to you, we are implementing a new review system.

This new review system is designed to allow you to quickly receive information on the latest hardware. This new system also allows you to quickly get the gist of the review without reading through it. This can be very useful, especially in situations where you need to make a quick purchase decision.

In this new system, we start with a Product Overview whenever a company sends us a press release about their latest product. We shift through extraneous PR-talk to create a straightforward summary of the product's features as well as specifications. This allows you to quickly find out all the pertinent details about the product, without reading through official press releases.

When we receive the product for review, we will quickly take photos of it and create a Pictorial Review. The purpose of a pictorial review is to allow you, the reader, to quickly examine the product visually. It may help you make better purchase decisions, especially if you cannot wait for the full review.

After thorough testing, we will post a Comprehensive Review of the product. This adds on to the pictorial review with comprehensive test results and our final conclusion on the product.

But no matter whether you are reading a Pictorial Review or a Comprehensive Review, you can always read the summary of the review as well as examine the product's specifications right on the first page. In all our new reviews, we will maintain the first page as a Product Overview page. If the product is listed in PriceGrabber, you can also check out the lowest price online.

We hope this new review system will make your experience a lot more enjoyable and informative!
