New Features (Continued)
- Personalize the Player
You can resize WMP10 any way you want by clicking and dragging or make it ultra-small with the mini-player mode. In addition, you can also personalize the player by downloading new skins or visualizations from Microsoft's website itself or other sites.
But nothing much has changed as far as plug-ins like Audio Effects (DSP) plug-ins, DVD decoder plug-ins, etc. are concerned. You will still need to purchase third-party plug-ins.
I also found out that you can change the color of the base skin too if you don't like it. W00t!
- One Click Access to Common Tasks
The library now has a new pane where you can drag and drop files to play, save as a playlist, sync to a portable device or burn to a CD. It's actually like a Media Station for your whole collection.
Choice of Online Stores
- Digital Media Mall
With the built-in Digital Media Mall, you have easy access to what Microsoft says is the largest selection of music and video stores. Whether you are looking to purchase music downloads, sign up for a music subscription or even rent a movie, you can find exactly what you want from a variety of stores.
Placed at the upper right corner of WMP10, this is where you can find links to popular online Media Stores. You can actually get "the best digital media delivered directly to you". Those are Microsoft's exact words.
There are currently (at time of writing) six stores available which are CinemaNow, MSN Music, MusicNow, MusicMatch, Napster and Wal-Mart. No doubt, there will be more joining later. For those who are outside US, there are two international stores which are Virgin Mega (France) and MSN Music (Korea).
