ATTO Disk Benchmark (SSD)
ATTO Disk Benchmark is a free benchmark that allows you to compare the performance of the solid state drive using a variety of transfer sizes. The total size of each test is limited to 256 MB, which is good enough for most intents and purposes.
I/O Comparison
In this test, we compared the basic I/O performance of the Western Digital Black²'s solid state drive.
Compressible Data Set Minimum Read Speed |
|
Non-Compressible Data Set Minimum Read Speed |
The JMicron JMF667H controller does not make use of data compression, so there's no difference in performance whether the data is compressible or not. In both cases, the write speed completely plateaued when the block size was 16 KB or larger. Its read speed, on the other hand only started to taper off when the block size reached 1024 KB.
Multiple I/O Comparison
In this test, we compared the Western Digital Black²'s ability to handle 8 simultaneous I/Os.
Compressible Data Set Minimum Read Speed |
|
Non-Compressible Data Set Minimum Read Speed |
Again, there was practically no difference in performance whether the data was compressible or otherwise. This time though, the write speed hit a wall with a block size of just 4 KB or larger. The read speed also hit a wall, albeit at a block size of 128 KB.
