The Essential Oil Kit

I'm not quite sure why ABIT actually added this essential oil kit in the DiGiDice package. But it was nonetheless a very pleasant surprise!

Lavender Rose!

The scent that came with the review unit was Lavender Rose. For all you guys who aren't familiar with essential oils, well, here is a quote off an aromatherapy website I found off Google :-

aromatherapy: aro·ma·ther·a·py - noun -
The use of volatile plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical well-being.

After a quick browse through that website, I found the profiles of the Lavender and Rose oils. Well, maybe ABIT thought it would be good idea to relieve our stress through aromatheraphy whenever we are using the DiGiDice...

And it comes with a tray too!

And believe it or not, the essential oil kit also comes with a customised tray/evaporator!

This got me really stumped! The tray looked like it should fit somewhere in the DiGiDice but I could not figure it out at that moment. Only after opening up everything did it finally hit me where I was to install this essential oil kit.

The Cooling System

Moving along to the bigger box in the package. In it, I found the cooling system that was to be utilized in the DiGiDice.

Again, ABIT proved that they really do know a thing or two about good product packaging! The only other manufacturer that impressed me with their product packaging is Zalman Tech.

ABIT's packaging of the cooler included the use of sponge, cut to fit and protect the external heat sink from getting dented and damaged. Some sponge was also used to reduce the impact on the heatpipes in case the packaged was badly manhandled or dropped. The CPU heat sink itself was fit into a mould cut into several cardboard layers.

The DiGiDice Cooling Kit

ABIT equipped the DiGiDice with a custom-made cooler with heatpipes that connects the CPU heat sink to a second heat sink that sits outside the case. And so here it is - the Outside Thermal Exhaust System (OTES) cooling system!

According to ABIT, they chose to use their own OTES technology as no other cooling systems is capable of providing sufficient cooling while adhering to the Silent PC Standard of 25 decibels. Indeed, the OTES-inspired design of the cooling system is very interesting indeed.

The OTES system is completed by a semi-translucent fan duct and an 8cm Sunon thin-profile fan. ABIT also provided some hard plastic tabs as screw replacements.

As you can see, ABIT has made quite an effort to keep the DiGiDice cool AND silent. Kudos to ABIT for their efforts quiet PCs are the way to go!
