Western Digital Black² (WD1001X06XDTL) Dual Drive Review Rev. 2.0

IOPS Scaling (SSD)

In these tests, we tested the drive's ability to tackle multiple input/output operations. Again, we compared the SSD component of the WD Black² (WD1001X06XDTL) to the industry standards - the Intel 520 Series SSD and the Intel X25-M G2. If you wish to see how the WD Black² compares to other solid state drives, take a look at our Solid State Drive Performance Comparison Guide, which we will be updating shortly.

The Western Digital Black² really took a beating in these tests. The JMicron JMF667H SSD controller is obviously out of the league when it comes to handling multiple input/output operations. Of course, the Black² dual drive is designed for use in laptops and are unlikely to see such rigorous usage patterns. Overall though, it pegs the Black²'s performance as between that of the Intel 520 Series SSD and the Intel X25-M G2.
