Sisoft Sandra Disk Benchmark
Overall Score
Here, you can see that RAID 0, in general, delivered the highest scores with the exceptions of the 512 KB and 1024 KB stripe sizes. You can also see that Software Stripe, that was created through Windows 2000's Dynamic Disk system, was almost as fast as hardware RAID 0. That's proof that the RAID card itself doesn't do any processing.
Mirroring (RAID 1) was the worst performing RAID level. This actually makes sense because the system needs to write to two hard disk drives, instead of just one. As expected, the performance of the spanned drives (JBOD) cannot be differentiated from that of a non-RAID single hard disk drive setup.
Buffered Read
Here, you can see that a RAID 0 array with a small stripe size (<16 KB) generally gave the best performance.
