COUGAR Power Supplies

COUGAR was established in 2007 by a group of PC hardware enthusiasts in Germany, who wanted more than the typical PC cases and PSUs that had the same boring looks for umpteen years and internal layouts with endlessly uncreative cosmetic variations and poor quality.   - Power efficiency not certified by the 80 PLUS certification program.

Today, we are going to take a look at the COUGAR PowerX 80 PLUS Bronze power supply. It comes in two models - with power outputs of 700 W and 550 W. We will be looking at the 550 W model specifically. Here are its key features :

• Dynamic Dual 12V Lines
  - Automatic dynamic load distribution on dual 12V lines to provide power separately to the GPU and the CPU. If you are not using all output lines, the PSU automatically reroutes needed power from unused lines. This improves the performance of the 12V lines considerably for systems with high-end graphics cards in SLI® or CrossFire® mode. and provide high voltage stability to keep components safe.

Packaging

The COUGAR PowerX 550W power supply came in a compact printed cardboard box. The PowerX PSU's key features are all listed on the top and the front lid, with its specifications listed at the bottom. When you open it up, you will find the PSU inside a bubble wrap sleeve with the cables on the side.

When you take everything out, this is what you should find :

• One 550W COUGAR PowerX PSU with cables
• One power cable
• Five cable ties with five screws
• One installation manual
