Service Pack 3 cannot be installed on Windows XP RTM. Service Pack 3 must be installed on Windows XP SP1/ SP2


Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 users must upgrade to SP2 before applying SP3.

Files and settings transfer wizard requires hotfix when transferring files between SP2 and SP3. Otherwise, this error message will appear - "Your migration store was created with a previous version of Files and Settings Transfer Wizard".


Creation of SP3 slipstream media not supported on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) slipstream media may not be installed correctly when you use the "/integrate" option on a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer


Keyless Install is now supported with integrated builds – may increase product activation failures.


Windows XP SP3 is for x86 editions of Windows XP only. The x64 editions of Windows XP were serviced by Windows Server 2003 SP2.
