WinBench 99 Version 2.0
Business Disk WinBench 99
The Western Digital Scorpio Black 750 GB hard disk drive completely blew away the competition in this test. It was 15% faster than the runner-up, the 500 GB Western Digital Scorpio; and 79% faster than the 320 GB Western Digital Scorpio.
High-End Disk WinBench 99
In the High-End Disk WinBench 99 test, it just edged out the 500 GB Western Digital Scorpio. Both drives were 69% faster than their closest competitor, the 320 GB Western Digital Scorpio Black.
Transfer Rate Range
This chart shows you the range of platter-to-buffer transfer rates from the innermost track to the outermost track. In other words, it shows you the range of disk transfer rates of the hard drives (from minimum and maximum).
Thanks to the use of platters with much higher areal density, the Western Digital Scorpio Black 750 GB hard disk drive delivered the best disk transfer rate range. Its minimum platter-to-buffer transfer rate (at the innermost tracks) of 71.7 MB/s was remarkably just a tad slower than what the 250 GB Seagate Momentus 5400.5 can deliver on its outermost (fastest) track.
