The Package
As it befits a top-of-the-range card, the ASUS EN8800GTX comes in an enormous box. It is half again as big as some motherboard boxes. Hopefully, the large box isn't merely to give us a sense of getting value for money.
The packaging is well-designed with a cool Ghost Recon soldier in the front, instead of some wimpy nymph or warrior chick. I don't know about you, but it certainly conveys a suitably macho look. Besides, ASUS actually bundles a copy of Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter with the EN8800 GTX!
The back of the box has more detailed information on the features of the card itself. Although it is based on the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX reference design, the card comes with some unique ASUS software to make full use of the card's features. If you need to know more, just flip open the flap covering the front of the box. You will see the ASUS software features explained in detail.
When we opened up the box, it revealed a hard white cardboard box inside. We found a whole lot of stuff in there, but there was still quite a lot of empty space in the box. The box was certainly unnecessarily big for the number of items in the package, as many as they are.
