Savvio 10K.2

Seagate was the first in the world to introduce a 2.5" enterprise-class hard drive in their Savvio. Any moment now, they will be releasing a new incarnation - the Savvio 10K.2. As you guessed it, the 10K refers to its spindle speed while the .2 denotes it as a second generation drive of the family.

Like the original Savvio, this new drive is targeted at rack-optimized servers and RAID arrays as well as blade servers. As long as you need an enterprise solution in the smallest possible size and/or with the lowest power consumption possible, the Savvio is the answer.

Thanks to Perpendicular Recording Technology, the new Savvio 10K.2 will feature higher capacities, and up to 25% faster sequential performance.

The new Savvio 10K.2 drive will debut at any moment with new capacities of 146GB and 73GB.

Here is a list of its key features :

  • Coolest-running enterprise drive, allowing you to use more powerful and hotter running processors
  • Perpendicular recording technology enables highest enterprise SFF capacity ever at 146GB as well as up to 25% faster sequential performance
  • Brings true enterprise-class performance and reliability to blade servers
  • Boasts a record-breaking reliability rating
  • Enables full RAID 5 functionality in a 1U server while consuming less power and delivering more IOPS than a 2U server with conventional 3.5" enterprise drives
