The My Book
The Western Digital My Book Home Edition looks like a dark-gray book, albeit a rather thick one. The whole chassis is made from metal, probably aluminium. It was given a very nice nice matte metallic finish which not only feels good to touch but it also means that oily fingerprints are less likely to be seen.
The whole unit has a nice heft to it, and it feels really solid and well-built. The weight, which some may consider a little on the heavy side, is actually good. Coupled with the wide base, the weight of the drive makes for a good, stable stand. You can, of course, choose to lay the drive on its side. It doesn't matter whether the drive is placed vertically or even upside down. If you do not believe us, read our Hard Disk Drive Myths Debunked article.
