The Fan
The fan has a nice finger guard with the Spire logo on it.
Fan grill with the prominently-placed Spire logo.
The guard was attached to the fan using four screws. Removing the fan guard was a simple matter of undoing the four screws.
The fan used in the KestrelKing III
The fan supplied was a Fanner Tech product. That's Spire's parent company. The fan has a reasonably attractive design, and lacks any of the showier features on other coolers like lights, UV reactive bits, etc. This ball-bearing fan is only notable for its temperature-controlled operation.
Under The Fan
Under the fan is the cam-clip assembly used to fasten the cooler onto the mounting base. That's something that should be familiar to anyone who has built an Athlon 64 or Pentium 4 system before.
The top of the heatsink sans shroud and fan.
The heatsink shroud had a bit of a dent in it. I wonder how that happened.
Curious dent on heatsink shroud. Though somewhat unsightly,
a dent here should have little impact on performance.
It won't affect the operation or performance of the cooler, but Spire might want to consider better packaging to ensure that their products are better protected during distribution.
