The Notebooks (Continued)
The ASUS manager was the first person to speak. Initially, he explained a little about current consumer buying trends and why more consumers are opting for mobile solutions. Then, he gave a brief overview of the ASUS notebooks.
They all run on the new Intel Sonoma platform, which features the new 533MHz front side bus. These Sonoma notebooks also feature DDR2 SDRAM as well as PCI-e graphics.
Among the key points of the latest models include a 7.1 channel audio output, built-in wireless mouse support, 802.11A/B/G wireless LAN support, a SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO card reader and two special hinge designs.
He also explained a little about ASUS' proprietary power saving technology - Power4 Gear+. He claimed that Power4 Gear+ will improve battery life by 15%.
Finally, he mentioned that ASUS is the only notebook manufacturer to release so many notebooks based on the Sonoma platform. They actually have 11 Sonoma-based notebook models now!
