Introduction To Serial ATA

Conclusion

Serial ATA is not a technology of the future. It is already available today.

If you look around the store shelves, you will see that they are slowly filling up with SATA drives. Motherboard manufacturers are already touting SATA controllers and SATA-RAID support as special built-in features. Hard drive manufacturers are all standing behind this technology and are already producing SATA drives.

Of course, if you hate migrating from one standard to another, you can always stick to Parallel ATA. However, PATA drives and controllers will eventually be phased out for good.
