In this real world test of business applications, the Western Digital WD5000LPVT hard disk drive ended up slightly slower than the 1 TB Western Digital Scorpio Blue (WD10JPVT), and roughly midway between the performance level of the the latest 750 GB Scorpio Black hard disk drive and the older 500 GB Scorpio Black hard disk drive.

In the High-End applications test though, the Western Digital WD5000LPVT did slightly better than the 1 TB Western Digital Scorpio Blue (WD10JPVT). However, it was still significantly slower than the 750 GB Scorpio Black and the 500 GB Scorpio Black hard disk drives.
