ED#134 : Intel To Launch Ivy Bridge Desktop Processors In April!
Our source has confirmed that Intel will be announcing their Ivy Bridge desktop and mobile processors this Friday, March 23, 2012! The actual release date of these processors will be April 29, 2012. Take a look at what's coming up!
Update @ March 22, 2012 : It looks like we made a small mistake in our earlier "correction". We mixed up the embargo date for the Ivy Bridge with that of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680! What a facepalm moment! In any case, the announcement date is not very important, as that's when the embargo ends and the media is allowed to talk about the Ivy Bridge processors. The actual launch date is April 29, 2012 with availability on the same day. That means you will be able to buy Ivy Bridge processors or Ivy Bridge notebooks on April 29, 2012. That date is confirmed.
Update @ March 29, 2012 : We shifted 8 of the desktop processors to the June 2012 launch. Apparently, Intel has decided to delay their launch to help trim down existing stock of Sandy Bridge processors. This leaves just 10 desktop processors for the April 29 launch.
Intel Ivy Bridge Desktop Processors
Intel divides their desktop processors into two segments - the standard voltage processors with a TDP of 77 W and lower-voltage processors with a TDP of 65 W (S-parts) or 35-45 W (T-parts). K-parts are enthusiast-class processors with unlocked multipliers.

The Intel Core i7-3700 series will be the only one that supports the Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, allowing them to simultaneously process up to 8 threads. The Core i7-3700 series also features 8 MB of L3 cache, while the lower SKUs only have 6 MB.
You will notice that there are some oddities. The Intel Core i7-3770K breaks away from "standard conventions" to feature a slight 100 MHz increase in the base clock speed over the non-K version. Both Core i7-3770K and Core i7-3770 will have the same Turbo Boost speed of 3.9 GHz though.
The other thing is the Intel Core i7-3570K. It is the only non-3700 series processor to come with HD Graphics 4000. The lower SKUs only support the HD Graphics 2500.

The low-voltage S-parts have a TDP of 65 W, while the T-parts have a TDP of 35-45 W. Again, the Intel Core i7-3700 processors are the only ones to feature both full 8 MB L3 caches as well as Intel Hyper-Threading Technology.
Now, let's take a look at the mobile Ivy Bridge parts!
