The Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Malaysian Launch Details

Exactly a month after Samsung first revealed the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge at the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Unpacked event, Samsung Malaysia officially launched both models for the Malaysian market in the magnificent Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Over 500 guests and celebrities attended the event. See who can spot in the crowd!

We had already covered most of the details of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones earlier, as well as their record-high pre-order numbers, and their launch prices in other countries. In this event, Samsung Malaysia will officially reveal their prices and availability here in Malaysia, as well as special services that they will offer Malaysian consumers. Let's take a look!

Summary Of The Key Points

For those who are already up-to-date on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, let's start with a summary of the keypoints of the event :

1. Samsung Malaysia will only offer the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge with 32 GB of storage. The larger 64 GB and 128 GB capacities will not be available in the Malaysian market unless there is a significant demand.

2. The Samsung Galaxy S6 (32 GB) will be priced at RM 2,599 (~US$ 709), inclusive of the 6% GST.

3. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (32 GB) will be priced at RM 3,099 (~US$ 845), inclusive of the 6% GST.

4. You will be able to pre-order both smartphones from the 3rd to the 12th of April via Samsung Malaysia's website and local telcos like Maxis, Celom and DiGi.

5. Those who pre-order the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge from Samsung Malaysia will receive a FREE wireless charger worth RM 232 (~US$ 63). Sweet! Do note that there are limited free units available, which will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

6. While all colours will officially be available, only the Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire and White Pearl colours will be available in quantity. The other two colours (Blue Topaz for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald for the S6 Edge) will only be available in very limited quantities.

7. The pre-ordered smartphones will available for collection from a Samsung branch on the 17th of April, which is a delay of one week from the previously announced global availability date.

8. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones will come with Microsoft OneNote and OneDrive pre-installed. This includes 100 GB of free cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive for two years.

9. Samsung Malaysia will offer a FREE pick-up and repair service for all Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. The pick-up service remains free even after the warranty expires, although the users will have to pay for any repair costs.

10. Samsung Malaysia will also offer a FREE 7-point maintenance service for all Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones throughout their lifetime. This allows Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users to ensure that their smartphones are always performing in tip-top condition.
