Intel Duo Couture
Intel’s new tagline, Leap Ahead is definitely making its way into the sports arena; specifically in Formula 1. At the recent Duo Couture event, Intel invited over 200 guests and media representatives to witness how technology and haute couture complement cool Formula 1 racing cars.
This is Intel’s first sponsorship in a sporting event and also its first for the BMW Sauber F1 team. The event was held at the Regent Hotel, KL and the host for the evening was the stunning Ms. Elaine Daly, our very own Miss Malaysia 2003.
Stephanie Hallford, Intel's Director of Asia-Pacific Mobility Brand Marketing based in Beijing, gave a short speech on Intel’s decision to sponsor the BMW Sauber team. They believed that the BMW Sauber team is very much like Intel, in that they are always striving to achieve the best in the most extreme of conditions by utilizing leading edge technology.
She also said that Intel is committed to producing even smaller chips so that manufacturers can create notebooks that are not only faster but also lighter, with better battery life. Many consumers are demanding that their notebooks should last longer with a single charge and she noted that, in notebooks with the Intel Centrino technology, they have managed to improve battery life by 30%.
Her speech was followed by a session with Robert Kubica, the BMW Sauber team’s test driver. Clad in a white T-shirt bearing both BMW and Intel logos, Kubica said that he was very excited to be in Malaysia and hoped that the Malaysian BMW Sauber team supporters will give their full support to his team.
When asked about his opinion on partnership between Intel and BMW Sauber, he said that it is a very good thing as BMW relies heavily on computer technology from Intel to improve their performance on track. He himself uses an Intel Centrino notebook off track.
Finally, we were all entertained with the Intel Duo Couture fashion show which showcased outfits designed by Khoon Hooi, Malaysia’s top fashion designer.
The show featured pairs of models in elegant designer outfits. The “twin” theme was a nod to Intel's Core Duo dual processor platform.
