Hand Strap
Imagine talking on your phone, busy exchanging gossip with your friend, then *swoop!*, someone snatches your mobile phone right from your hand and runs away. You didn’t even see him coming since you were so engrossed in your conversation. The same scenario could also happen while you are typing out a text message. So, how do you prevent this from happening?
Simple - just attach a lanyard or strap to your phone and secure it around your wrist or neck. Most, if not all, mobile phones today have lanyard anchors, and you can buy all sorts of lanyards at any telecommunications shop for close to nothing. Attach a lanyard to your mobile phone and everytime you take it out to make a call or send a message, just place the lanyard around your wrist. This makes it extremely difficult for anyone to snatch the phone from your hand.
Even if the thief struggles with you, you still have the upper hand because the lanyard is usually very strong and almost impossible to tear or break without being cut. Just remember not to let the lanyard stick out of your pocket when you keep your phone there. You may have served your phone to the thief on a silver platter. The lanyard makes it easier for the thief to locate your phone and ease it out of your your pocket.
Use A Wireless Headset
With Bluetooth wireless headsets dropping in price all the time, it is worth getting one. Not only is it more convenient to use on-the-go, it can also protect your phone from being stolen. By using a wireless headset, you can keep your phone in your briefcase or backpack, completely hidden from anyone’s view.
You can therefore make and answer calls on your headset without anyone knowing where your phone is. If the thief does not know where your phone is, he cannot steal it. You can also use the wireless headset to listen to music, and as mentioned earlier, listening to music is another way of preventing theft.
Conclusion
If we ever become victims of mobile phone theft, it's not enough that we lose our phones and data, and have to buy a new phone. What's worse is the fact that we know that we could have prevented it with a little common sense.
As Ra's al Ghul in the movie Batman Begins wisely said, “Criminals thrive on the indulgence of society’s understanding”. In other words, criminals always take advantage of good-hearted people. Although it is noble to believe and trust people around us, it doesn't pay to be so trusting. Honestly, you’ll never know what the person standing next to you is really capable of.
