The Package

The Seagate 160GB Momentus 5400.3 notebook hard drive came in a plastic bag which protects it against electrostatic damage. Behind, the sticker sealing the bag warns against handling the drive without anti-static precautions.

Back view

Needless to say, such packaging will not protect the drive against shock and direct trauma. If you want to mail this drive, you will need to pack it inside a box with loads of styrofoam.

Of course, if you purchase the retail version of this drive, it will come in its own box, with the proper packaging to survive a mail delivery.

But no matter whether you buy the OEM or the retail drive, once you remove the outer packaging, both drives will still be protected by an anti-static bag.

Inside the anti-static bag is, of course, the focus of this review - the Seagate 160GB Momentus 5400.3 PATA notebook hard drive!

We will examine this drive in detail soon enough, but let's go through its specifications first.
